Here is a video I took on my phone of my dad shooting a nerf gun at my 13 year old brother while he desperately tries to dodge the bullets!

Today is Jimmy's 13th birthday. I can't believe it. I guess I am just taking a look at how grown up he is because 13 is considered a monumental birthday, his first day as a teenager. Life just seems so freakin short sometimes! We had his favorite dinner which is chicken, rice and spinach. Healthy, huh? Then we had CHEESECAKE! Yes! It was store-bought because my mom has given up on her amazing cake baking skills and swears that she loves the store cakes better. ;[ This cheesecake was delicious. It had a variety of chocolates in and on it and it was good!
My weeks go by so fast working full time. It's like Monday, then Friday then Monday again and it just goes on and on like that and it never ends. I have little moments that break up the monotony and I appreciate those because otherwise I would be extremely bored all the time and quite unsatisfied with life. I like the Christmas season because there are so many get togethers and parties and I get to make a lot of fudge to give to everyone. I love fudge. Some of my online gifts came in the mail today. They were both for my mom. We don't have a Christmas tree yet and I don't know when we are going to get one because my dad and I are going to Chicago this weekend and next weekend my dad is taking James hunting so we may not have one for awhile. I want to wrap presents and put them under the tree already!
Happy Birthday James!

My brothers.
James is only 12 but I am continually impressed by his maturity in the face of situations he has to deal with at home. He is very well-rounded, showing an interest in a variety of topics from cooking to sports to cotillion, he is always open to learning and he is so precious. I don't want to be an unimpressive sister to him and I often wish that I could have the same thirst for knowledge that he does. I can already see how successful he is going to be in his life. I just hope and pray that nothing in his world stifles him from becoming who he wants to be.
I have to post this because I am being proud sister! My view may be biased but I think for a 12 year old in a 7th grade language arts class, his first attempt at poetry isn't too bad!

You can see
nicely dressed men
men stripped of their shirt
fat men and
thin men
You can hear
bulldozers
backhoes
shovel contraptions and
the moving and shifting of gears
This is where
men work from sun up to sun down
digging holes for huge concrete pipes and
machines don't even have time to get old
I know he's just following a format but I see the potential. Of course I want him to love writing. My other brother HATES it and I've spent a lot of time during his school career "helping" him write papers or just giving up and writing them myself. So here's to James honing his skills and becoming an amazing poet.
